Justice Department Independence

I am writing to urge you to take an explicit and public stand in defense of the independence of the Department of Justice.

The legitimacy of our legal system rests on one foundational principle: the law must be applied equally, without regard to political loyalty, personal relationships, or power. Any use—or perceived use—of prosecutorial authority for political retaliation or protection is incompatible with democratic governance.
